Awards may be based on academic merit or financial need, or a combination of the two. Preference shall be given to American Indian and Alaskan Native students, or other underrepresented minority students.

This scholarship was originally established in memory of Dr. Norman James Rose by his wife, Ethel Jenisch Rose, and his son, Norman Jenisch Rose, as a memorial to Dr. Rose for his outstanding career in family medicine and public health. Upon Mrs. Rose's death in 2003, and through renaming the endowment, Dr. Norman Jenisch Rose chose to honor and remember both of his parents and the close partnership they had throughout their marriage.

Bama Environmental News - BEN

**********************************************************************

Dear Friends,

The natural wonders of Alabama have been a source of renewal and inspiration for centuries. Nearly 20 years ago, Alabamians came together to create the state’s Forever Wild Program to set aside and preserve the special places and natural wonders of this state. Drawing from the experiences and love for our state's special places, the Forever Wild Program has become one of the most successful conservation programs in our state’s history.

Building on that theme, we would like to invite you to participate in a new statewide writing and photography project called, “Keeping Alabama Forever Wild”. Selected writing and images will appear on al.com, the state’s most visited website. We expect competition to be strong, but we would like to include young voices as well as grown.

Below are the rules and deadlines. It's not just an assignment. It is a chance to be published on the state’s most popular website and help keep Alabama forever wild.

We look forward to your participation.

Pat Byington

Outreach Director
